Huntington Ingalls recently received a contract to research and develop advanced submarine technologies for current and advanced submarine platforms. This comes as no surprise in the current political climate around the world; many nations worldwide are investing in upgrades to their capabilities. Huntington Ingalls remains one of two contractors manufacturing nuclear-powered submarines for the United States Navy. The Kearsarge-class battleship was first built in 1898. Huntington Ingalls built two ships in total, the Kearsarge and Kentucky.

32. Illinois-Class

In 1898, the Illinois-class battleship was built. Huntington Ingalls built only one battleship like this.

31. Arkansas-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Arkansas-class monitor in 1900. It was the only ship of this class built.

30. Pennsylvania-Class

The Pennsylvania class was first built in 1903. Huntington Ingalls built two total ships, the West Virginia and Maryland.

29. Virginia-Class

In 1904, the Virginia-class submarine was built. Huntington Ingalls built only one battleship like this.

28. Tennessee-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Tennessee-class cruiser in 1906. North Carolina and Montana were two notable ships that were built.

27. Connecticut-Class

The Connecticut-class battleship was first built in 1907. Huntington Ingalls built only one of these, the Minnesota.

26. Delaware-Class

In 1909, the Delaware-class battleship was built. Huntington Ingalls built only one battleship like this.

25. New York-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the New York-class battleship in 1912. The Texas was the only ship of this class built.

24. Pennsylvania-Class

The Pennsylvania-class battleship was first built in 1915. Huntington Ingalls built one ship, the Pennsylvania.

23. New Mexico-Class

In 1917, the New Mexico-class battleship was built. Huntington Ingalls built only one battleship like this, the Mississippi.

22. Wickes-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Wickes-class destroyer in 1918. Notable ships of this class were the Lamberton, Montgomery, Radford, and Gamble. Six destroyers in total were built.

21. Clemson-Class

The Clemson-class destroyer was first built in 1920. Huntington Ingalls built one ship, the Abel P. Upshur.

20. Colorado-Class

In 1920, the Colorado-class battleship was built. Huntington Ingalls built two ships of this class, the Maryland and West Virginia.

19. Northampton-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Northhampton-class cruiser in 1929. Two cruisers of this class were built, Houston and Augusta.

18. Ranger-Class

The Ranger-class carrier was first built in 1933. Huntington Ingalls built only one of these carriers.

17. Yorktown-Class

In 1936, the Yorktown-class aircraft carrier was built. Huntington Ingalls built three carriers: the Yorktown, Enterprise, and Hornet.

16. Brooklyn-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Brooklyn-class cruiser in 1936. The Boise was the only cruiser built of this class.

15. Sims-Class

The Sims-class destroyer was first built in 1938. Huntington Ingalls built two total destroyers of this class, the Mustin and the Russell.

14. South Dakota-Class

In 1941, the South Dakota-class battleship was built. Huntington Ingalls built only one battleship like this, the Indiana.

13. Essex-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Essex-class aircraft carrier in 1942. Nine carriers of this class were built, notably the Essex, Yorktown, Intrepid, and Hornet.

12. Midway-Class

The Midway-class aircraft carrier was first built in 1945. Huntington Ingalls built two total ships, the Midway and Coral Sea.

In 1948, the Des Moines-class cruiser was built. Huntington Ingalls built only one battleship like this, the Newport News.

10. Forrestal-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Forrestal-class aircraft carrier in 1954. Two carriers of this class were built, the Forrestal and Ranger.

9. George Washington-Class

The George Washington-class submarine was first built in 1959. Huntington Ingalls built one of this class, the Robert E. Lee.

8. Skipjack-Class

In 1960, the Skipjack-class submarine was built. Huntington Ingalls built only one battleship like this, the Shark.

7. Enterprise-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Enterprise-class aircraft carrier in 1960. The Enterprise was the only carrier of this class built.

6. Kitty Hawk-Class

The Kitty Hawk-class aircraft carrier was first built in 1964. Huntington Ingalls built two total carriers, the America and John F. Kennedy.

5. Nimitz-Class

In 1972, the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier was built. Huntington Ingalls built ten carriers, notably the Nimitz, Abraham Lincoln, Harry S. Truman, and George H.W. Bush.

4. Virginia-Class

Huntington Ingalls built the Virginia-class cruiser in 1974. Four of these classes of cruisers were built: the Virginia, Texas, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

3. Los Angeles-Class

The Los Angeles-class submarine was first built in 1974. Huntington Ingalls built twenty-nine of these submarines. Notable ships were the Los Angeles and Miami.

2. Virginia-Class

In 2000, the Virginia-class submarine was built. Huntington Ingalls built twenty-two of this class of submarine. Notable ships were Virginia, California, Texas, and South Dakota.
